Excuse me, but have you seen October? Where on earth did it go? One minute we were settling into spooky season, then poof! It’s November and we need to start thinking about the big C! But first Happy Halloween for yesterday, lets reflect on October!!
October seemed pretty quiet in terms of TYD adventures. A group of our regular dippers tried their hand at tubing with Endless Adventure. We had so much fun in the River Tees and hope to organise more of these white water adventure days next year so let us know if you’re interested!
We have also been doing a few recces and working out a few new dip spots for 2025! Check out Ashgill Force. Isn’t she magnificent?
Scale Haw Force is another pretty waterfall that we checked out.
We also met up with the Wild and Dipsy Dippers, a local swim community for a spooky swim at Burnsall. A fun and spooky time was had by all! If you have had any spooky swims, please post them on our Yorkshire Dippers Facebook page.
Other than that, we have been sticking to our favourite, Pool Bridge Farm. Q Lake is actually ridiculously beautiful in the autumn hues and has affirmed itself as our favourite lake. We thoroughly enjoyed our Full Moon Sauna takeover and have booked to do it all again in November! Behind the scenes we have been planning lots of exciting things: Wet January 2025 is officially happening! Sign up will open soon on our website. Join us for a social or organise your own, we try to make the challenge as accessible as possible!
If you are unsure what Wet January is, it is basically the start of The Yorkshire Dippers. Back in January 2024, Vic, Leia and I were warming up after a cold dip in the Monet lake when I mentioned a chap on Facebook doing something called ‘Wet January’ (as opposed to Dry January) and that we wanted to do it too. We decided to magpie this idea and dip in a different location each week of January. Vic then suggested opening it up to the public so other dippers could join. Little did we know that so many people would be keen to dip with us. By the end of the month we had had over 50 people dip with us and so decided to keep it going throughout the year. We couldn’t really call it Wet 2024 and so, The Yorkshire Dippers were formed. We now have over 2.5k members in our Facebook group and have met and dipped with hundreds throughout the year. We will forever be grateful for our weird and wonderful little community!
